A food film that shows that farm to table is possible in a city
As food specialists, restaurants can be so inspiring. During the last spring and summer season, we made a portrait of one of our favourite lunch spots in Amsterdam: Gartine.
The unique restaurant hides in a tiny street between sex shops and tourist bars in the heart of the city centre.
Owners and chefs Kirsten Eckhart and Willem-Jan Hendriks serve food that is grown in their own garden outside the city. It was this novelty and the love for fresh produce that captivated us. And the dishes taste as great as they look!
The film fluctuates between the tranquility of the Dutch countryside and the city centre. The contrast is evident as we move away from the hustle and bustle of the city and towards the farm and then seamlessly into the restaurant. This seamless cut draws our attention to how the restaurant is the farm.
